TL;DR if you only want to know her marshmallow answers. Read the full summary below for Rushia’s stories.

1. What was the “buy edible bugs” tweet about?

Someone donated 50K yen asking her to eat bugs. She posted a picture of her looking up edible bugs and considered eating crickets and grasshoppers.

2. Please teach me a way to calm my nerves.

She says there’s no way. “Overcome whatever you’re facing and enjoy the feeling of relief afterwards.”

"Think of your favorite idol, think of how they also work hard and get nervous like you do."

3. Can you give me any advice for approaching cats?

“Let the cats come to you instead.”

4. This morning I had sleep paralysis. Please tell me a way to cope with it.

“Just let it pass. Don’t think about it and don’t fight it.”

5. I’m a girl and I have a crush on another girl, please give me some advice!

She doesn’t really know much about romance, but she suggests making discreet moves first. She thinks the poster should judge the current relationship between them two and start off with holding hands when hanging out.

6. Please tell us about your manager!

She barely talks to her manager outside meetings. Her manager takes his/her job very seriously—all they ever talk about is business. But her manager is also very considerate and gives Rushia advice whenever she wants to talk.

7. I would love to hear some of your recent cat stories!

She told two stories—one included her cat, but both were about cockroaches.

8. Will you stream Pokémon again?

She wants to, but she needs to talk to her manager about it.

9. I have a nice job, but I’m stressed over how others expect a lot from me. Should I get another job?

“I understand it’s hard to experience this kind of pressure, but isn’t hiding your mistakes and not asking for help even scarier? I really think you should open yourself up for help and not worry too much about it.”

10. What is the difference between love and romance?

To paraphrase her answer, one would like the cats in cat cafés, but they would love their own cats.

11. Please tell me a way to improve my luck!

She said one shouldn’t brood over every unlucky thing that happens to them. Try finding the good in things. And go ask Pekora why she’s so lucky.

12. Will there be more chances in the future for signed postcards?

For signed postcards, there won’t be any for a while. For merchandise, she can’t say much yet (she has announced T-shirts for sale on August 31st).

13. You’re not gonna play anymore Apex?

She worries about playing badly on stream, but she’ll consider it.

14. What do you wear when in your room and when sleeping? I would like to buy similar ones.

In her room, she only wears a black or white oversized XL-size shirt and underwear and nothing else.

Answering Marshmallows:

Q1: What was the “buy edible bugs” tweet about?

During an ARK stream, she got a 50K SC asking her to eat bugs

She claimed to have seen a recent bug-eating trend and looked it up, but then she was disgusted by some search results. But she considered eating crickets and grasshoppers

Q2: Please teach me a way to calm my nerves.

She says there’s no way. “Overcome whatever you’re facing and enjoy the feeling of relief afterwards.”

She gets more nervous if she’s doing a chatting-focused stream, like this marshmallow stream.

“Think of your favorite idol, think of how they also work hard and get nervous like you do.”

Q3: I usually watch your streams to unwind and relax, but I have an urge to go to a cat café. Can you give me any advice for approaching cats?

“Let the cats come to you instead.”

Cat café story.

She worked for a short while as a maid in a maid café, and there were lots of cat cafés near it. She would often go to one of them before her shift.

She didn’t actively approach any cats – she just enjoyed the café atmosphere and read books. Cats would come up to her themselves like her own cat did when it was little.

When her kitten first met Rushia, it would run away like a crab when she tried to feed it. It stayed like that for a month or two, and she thought it was just unfriendly and started to leave it alone. As soon as she left it alone, the kitten warmed up to her and started sleeping on her knee.

Q4: Good evening! I didn’t really come up with anything, so can you say something that makes everyone smile?

“I like you.”

Q5: This early morning I had sleep paralysis. Please tell me a way to cope with it.

“Just let it pass. Don’t think about it and don’t fight it.”

She told sleep paralysis stories when she was in middle school and living with her family (she’s living alone in a dorm now).

Sleep paralysis story 1.

Once she tried her hardest to open her eyes during an episode. When she did, she saw on top of her a tiny, smiling old man as tall as the length of her palm and without a stomach riding a big cow’s head that mooed. It was scary to think about after she woke up, but she just stared in wonder during the episode.

Sleep paralysis story 2.

Once she heard her mom and brother talking downstairs during an episode and wanted to join in on the fun. She had an out-of-body experience in which her “consciousness” left towards the first floor, but something was trying to pull her back. When she descended half of the stairs and could see the first floor, her episode ended. In the morning, she got woken up suddenly by a loud bang at the bottom of her bed. She didn’t have a cat in her room at that time. Her mom checked on her, worried that Rushia fell out of her bed, yet Rushia thought somebody hit the first floor ceiling. When they confirmed nobody made the bang, everyone got scared, and nobody tried to go near Rushia’s room anymore.

She was interrupted and scared by probably a spam call and a message while telling her second story.

She has more stories like this, but she held off on telling more.

She was told not to go to haunted places to play.

Q6: How would you think and react if a girl confessed to you? I’m not 100% sure, but I think I have a crush on a girl in my class. I don’t have anybody to talk to for this, so please give me some advice!

She doesn’t really know much about romance, but she suggests making discreet moves first. She thinks the poster should judge the current relationship between them two and start off with holding hands when hanging out.

Lesbian friend story.

She had another childhood friend (not Underworld-chan) who liked girls. Rushia didn’t really understand romance back then, but she knew her friend was lesbian. One day her friend came to Rushia crying because she got dumped by another lesbian girl, and when Rushia hugged her, patted her head and comforted her, her friend said “Rushia, you’re so kind, go out with me, I’d rather be with you!”

Rushia was surprised yet really happy about it, but she blurted out that “You said that not because you like me but because you just had a break up, right?” Her friend responded “Yeah, but you’re so kind, so it would be nice.” Rushia thought the situation was getting out of hand, so she helped her friend every day and succeeded in getting her friend and ex back together. But as a result, her friend didn’t spend any time with Rushia while dating the other girl. Rushia was still happy because her friend must like her a lot if she could ask her out.

In high school, there was a girl who would hold Rushia’s hand and widely swing their arms when they hung out.

Q7: Please tell us about your manager!

She barely talks to her manager outside of meetings. Her manager takes his/her job very seriously—all they ever talk about is business. But they’re also very considerate and give Rushia advice whenever she wants to talk.

Rushia says although she’s always messing around and spoiling us viewers on stream, she has a very serious side. However, her current manager is even more serious than she is, so they have nothing else to talk about other than business.

Rushia has worried her manager before, though she says she’s more worried about her manager instead. Once her manager asked “Rushia, do you want to take a short break?” but Rushia didn’t reply to her manager’s message and promised to reply later.

Q8: Please imitate a baby.

Rushia’s baby noises bothered her cat.

Q9: I got a pet cat last month! I was told it was a timid cat, but once it settled down in my house, it became so playful that it was hard to handle lol. I would love to hear some of your recent cat stories!

“Cat” Story 1.

Rushia’s two cats are usually quiet and obedient at night, but one night, the “crab walk” cat from Q3 was going crazy hitting something and woke Rushia up. Rushia rolled over (yes, physically) to check what was going on--her cat was staring at the window and swinging at something. Rushia realized she left the window open when she slept and thought “Crap, something’s there, you kidding me? What do I do…” When she stood up, she saw a cockroach for a mere moment and screamed “AAAH! DON’T TOUCH ME!” Apparently, it was huge, and when it tried to fly, her cat saved the day and punched it immobile. Rushia immediately went to wash her cat, much to her cat’s displeasure since it was excited from trying to hit the cockroach. Rushia then left her cat for a moment, threw a cat scratching pad at the cockroach, and killed it. Since that day, Rushia bought a cockroach freezing spray. She wanted to replace the scratching pad too, but a lot of places were sold out, so she ordered one from Amazon.

Cockroach Story 2.

On some day after Rushia had just moved into her current place, she wanted to leave to buy groceries, but a cockroach was sticking to the front door. She was diligent about keeping everything clean, so she didn’t understand why there was a cockroach. She caught a weird smell near the front door, and she found out someone on the 1st floor left trash outside and probably attracted the cockroaches. She got really mad.

She couldn’t sleep yesterday until she bought some Roach Motel, though she realized it might draw more cockroaches. She thought about ordering a protective suit and mask from Amazon to deal with any future roach problems. She’s scared to use a lint roller because it might fly at her face. She doesn’t want to crush them either because she’s worried about spreading eggs.

Type of Person Rushia Is into.

There were marshmallows asking about Rushia’s type. She said “a person who can defeat cockroaches.”

Q10: There has been a lot of discussion over the upcoming bans on Mimikyu, Excadrill, and other meta Pokémon in ranked for Sword and Shield. Have you been playing Pokémon off-stream? I would love to see you be an otaku again.

She thinks the bans are good since it encourages players to use more Pokémon they like, but she realizes this will just produce a different meta. She pleads to her manager that she wants to stream Pokémon again.

Q11: I want to hear both Rushia’s and Fandeads’ opinions. I was working at another place, but I was transferred to my current job because I have a chemistry degree (though I wanted to decline the transfer because it had been too long since I last reviewed any chemistry). At this job, my coworkers are all nice, I could take breaks whenever, and my work isn’t affected by COVID-19. However, because I have that degree, my coworkers and boss expect a lot from me, but I have already forgotten a lot of things since my graduation long ago. I’m not brave enough to ask others for help, and I haven’t been concentrating on my work due to the pressure. I thought about looking for another job last year, but COVID-19 stopped that plan dead in its tracks. Should I keep this job or look for another one?

“I understand it’s hard to experience this kind of pressure, but isn’t hiding your mistakes and not asking for help even scarier? I really think you should open yourself up for help and not worry too much about it.”

“I think chemists are amazing, and I’m really happy that someone like that is asking me for advice. I know nothing except H2O.

...Wait, H2O is water? I thought it was carbon dioxide. Crap, I really know nothing.”

Q12: Please grant me your 1600-year-old wisdom. What is the difference between love and romance?

She thinks the answer to this is rather straightforward. She has pet cats, but she still goes to cat cafés. Romance is similar to liking cats in those cafés. They are very cute, but when they bite her, she would just leave. Love is like loving her own cats. After the café visit, she comes home to her cats and pats and kisses them. When her cats bite her, she would kindly forgive them.

When she goes to a cat café and sees a cat about to spit up a hairball, she only watches and thinks “Oh no, that cat is about to throw up!” When her cats are about to throw up, she goes to grab a newspaper like the Flash to try to catch it. If there’s no newspaper, she’ll sacrifice her hands.

Q13: I’m really troubled by how unlucky I am. Life’s hard when stuff like getting injured at the same place twice and being grouped up every time with the person I don’t like are common occurrences. Please tell me a way to improve my luck!

Rushia tells them to ask Pekora instead of her unlucky self.

She said because luck is something you can’t fight against, it’s okay to not mind it too much. Just say “it’s my bad luck again” and move on instead of brooding over it. If you end up in the same group with that person again, try to identify good things in that person, even if it’s just “their hair looks nice” or “their skin is fair.”

Q14: Even though I really wanted the signed postcard, I had to give up on it and only buy the voice pack. Will there be more chances for signed postcards?

For signed postcards, there won’t be any for a while. For merchandise, she can’t say much yet (she announced T-shirts for sale on August 31st).

Q15: You’re not gonna play anymore Apex?

Rushia is worried that she’s too bad at the game. She wants to get better at Apex before streaming any more of it, but someone in chat kindly commented “We only get the chance to see your bad plays when you’re actually bad.” She’s a little more open to streaming Apex after that.

Q16: Please impersonate a character Kana Hanazawa voiced!

1:21:43 – Nadeko Sengoku.

She watched Pop Team Epic with her brother.

1:23:35 – Not a HanaKana character, but Hanako Hanazawa in Sazae-san.

Q17: I want to know what kind of loungewear and sleepwear you have. I would like to buy similar ones.

In her room, she only wears a black or white oversized XL-size (Japan XXL) shirt and underwear and nothing else. She usually streams like this too. She has lots of those shirts, and if they get too worn, she uses them as rags.

Tangent: Fighting and fitness

She considered joining a K-1 tournament, though she thinks she’ll get one hit KO’ed.

She likes Street Fighter 4 but is really bad at fighting games in general. She thinks she might break the console if she played fighting games other than Smash Bros.

Her right-hand grip strength is about 26kg, left 16kg. She thinks above 35kg is "gorilla" level. She might ask Kanatan what she does to have that much grip strength.

Tangent: If you woke up as another hololive member one day, who would it be?

“Myself. I totally didn’t think about becoming Noel, not at all.”

She admires how Noel enjoys exercising and can play Ring Fit Adventure (RFA) for a long time. She jokes that Noel is motivated to train everyday probably because Noel has someone she wants to protect, someone whose name starts with F. She wonders if she could do the same while thinking about protecting her Fandeads.

Seeing how Pekora was really struggling with RFA reminded her of what she herself went through. She wanted to send Pekora a chat message asking if she was okay, but she held back thinking she was probably worrying too much.

If somebody told Rushia to stop when she’s playing RFA, she would happily oblige because she knows she’s stubborn and might overexert herself.

Tangent: Collabs

Rushia thought about doing an RFA collab with somebody who hasn’t played RFA before and would pair well with her level of endurance. She considered Luna, but Luna was also really out of shape, and she would feel bad for inviting her. Coco hasn’t done RFA either, but she thought Coco is probably really fit since Coco can dance.

There were marshmallows asking if she will do more ARK collabs with Luna. Rushia wants to invite her and other hololivers as well, but she thinks a lot about what would be a fitting game for her collab partner. She also wanted to wait for Luna’s recovery.

She has admired Subaru before her own debut and wants to collab with her, but she wants to gather more courage before asking. She doesn’t want to pressure Subaru into a collab by coming across as a fan. She plans to invite her when they have gotten closer, so they can have a genuinely fun collab.

Tangent: Goals
  1. Gen 3 concert before plans about a solo concert.

    1. She's been practicing singing and doing some physical exercise every day.

  2. 1 million YouTube subscribers.

  3. Network more.

  4. Appear on TV.

    1. She wonders if she needs to stop raging and slamming her desk if she wants to appear on TV.

Tangent: Movies and Shows

She likes NHK’s nature and travel shows and a nature sounds appreciation segment called “Sonority of Sound.”

She loves Ghibli films, but she couldn’t finish watching Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind because of the insects.

Q18: Recently I’ve taken a liking to sleeping in tight spaces, like in a closet or under the desk. It somehow makes me feel safe. It’s a shame that my friends and coworkers don’t really understand what I’m talking about. Could you tell us anything about you that other people tend to not understand?

Rushia has also slept in similar tight spaces when she was living at her parents’ house.

She couldn’t think of anything specific for the answer, but she understands how the poster feels.

Super Chat Reading

Topic: Rushia’s worries

She says she became who she is today thanks to her fans. She agonized over the fact that some people thought she was putting on a cute act with her voice after her debut. She reveals that she has been told that ever since she was little, and it has always bothered her. She knows her normal voice has always been high-pitched and doesn’t have much bass to it. Searching for a solution, she noticed that recently she has gotten good at desk slamming. She realized that her desk slamming was coincidentally a good way to dispel these notions. However, while her family knows she tends to have small outbursts of rage while gaming, she believes they would be shocked if they saw how much more she rages on stream.

After Rushia showed her brother some YouTube videos of her, he asked her to fight him in Pokémon (referring to Rushia raging in the Hololive Pokémon Tournament). He also thought Rushia playing Mario Kart is hilarious.

Topic: Family communication

In middle school, she seldom talked to her parents, though they talked a lot whenever they did want to talk. Her brother was like that too, though he talked regularly to Rushia. When he would arrive home, he seemed to ignore his mom when she tried to talk to him. Rushia asked mom if they were fighting, and mom told her he’s always been like that. Rushia also asked his brother if anything bad happened and found out that he never ignored her—he just always mumbled his replies, and Mom could never hear them.

Her brother always treated her warmly. Whenever Rushia arrived home, her brother would always loudly greet her.

Rushia wanted younger siblings and to experience what it’s like to be an older sister.

Topic: Moving and Holo House

She thinks Hokkaido would be a nice place to live because she loves cold weather and salmon caviar, but she doesn’t have the courage to move there because she has no friends there.

She really wants to move into the Holo House, but she worries about whether she can get used to living in Tokyo, considering her asthma and that she always lived in the countryside. She wants to move there so much that she won’t even mind if it were just for a short time. Her dad also suggested staying over for a few days. She wasn’t too informed on the Holo House plans, so she guessed she would join the current four under one roof. She joked (probably) about being fine with sleeping in the hallway or a walk-in closet.

She has stayed in Tokyo before, but she couldn’t stand the air quality and wasn’t a fan of the high rent. She had a stuffy nose and coughed all the time, especially in winter, so she paid frequent visits to the hospital. She thought mornings were pretty in Tokyo, but she was surprised she couldn’t see any stars at night. She considered masking up, always keeping her windows shut, and buying as many as 5 air purifiers if she decided to move there. Although she is allergic to cats, when she returned from Tokyo to the countryside, her nose stopped being stuffy.
